Vacuum tube
 A direct application solar water heater.
In this model the water goes directly inside the vacuum tubes. The vacuum inside the double walled glass tubes provides the insulation to both obtain heat gain and prevent heat loss.
 The advantage of this style is price and simplicity. The tank is attached to the tubes so the water keeps circulating from the tank into the tubes and getting hotter, through convection, without the use of a circulation pump.
It is rated at about 55% efficiency.
It is not pressurized.

The Separated vacuum tube collector, it consists of   vacuum tubes, collector manifold,  reflector, stands, assembly parts.
It has the same features as above but without the tank. There is a collector manifold that connects the solar tubes. Water is in turn stored in another remote located tank.

This style is non-pressurized.  It can be hooked in series to increase the amount of hot water heating capacity.

This manifold can also be operated with the solar tubes in the horizontal position, which is better for draining.

This type of water heater is not recommened for  winter use,
in continuous temperatures under 0C or 32F.
Water will freeze in the tubes in these conditions.


list Uses for non-pressurized solar hot water heaters.
1. Use as is: Cottages, camps, off grid homes, lodges, outdoor or remote showers.
Can be used in commercial applications as well.
Mounting these units on the roof of the building or structure where hot water is needed, pointing south to "track" the sun. These units can then provide a "low pressure" use of hot water for showers, bathing, cleaning, even space heating, from the natural fall (distance/height) from the collector to the hot water device or appliance.
2. heat exchanger: These models can be used to heat water in a closed loop system to heat "potable" hot water in your home, with a heat exchanger. It is possible to save up to 80% on your water heating costs per year.
Also can be used with a heat exchanger for space heating, especially good for low heat - in floor water heating.
3. Series: These units can be plumbed in series to create more volume of hot water.
Need lots of hot water?.. connect as many of these as you need to satisfy your demands.
You can expand your system by adding more solar collectors together to have more heating capacity to cover large hot water usage, or an increased need for hot water.
